A doodle a day keeps the doctor away and lets the passion stay..xo
After watching one of my favourite films, Legally blonde, I thought I’d design a sleepwear collection inspired by the style of the main character: Elle Woods.
I think she would love it!
Now what film shall I watch next to inspire me?
Monday 3rd June saw the Contour Fashion catwalk being shown at Fashion Graduate week for the very first time.
Above are pieces by 2 of my closet contour friends.
I saw Chelsea for weeks making ruffles upon ruffles and Lou, who makes the best corsets, embellish carefully placed lace pieces.
So proud of my girlies! -And of course everyone on the course!!
More images can be found on our university page
I’m currently living in my sketchbook where I am drawing away non-stop. This page is fabric and detail inspiration taken from the V&A Ballgowns exhibition that I visited back in the summer. Beautiful dresses.
I’m currently developing my portfolio -which my tutor refers to as ’The ticket to your career’. I coudnt put it better.
Going through all of this years projects and picking out roughly 15-20 examples of my work and choosing what showcases my skills and represents me well is its self a project and a half
I don’t upload enough images of pages from my sketchbook but I shall make a start to change this. Uploaded is some design development from last terms sketchbook
I’m just going to leave this here…and stare at it for a while…
Delicate and beautiful.
Elie Saab Spring 13 Couture dress
This will be going into my final major project sketchbook as inspiration <3
Some design development from my ‘Indestructible Femininity’ sketchbook
I’ll be digging out some of my other sketchbooks/ old work soon so expect some more pictures to be posted :)
This Monday sees my return to university and into the 2nd term of my 3rd and final year.
Looking back at the time I thought first year was hard- easy as pie is now what I think.
I believe these next 2 terms may just be the toughest of my life so far.
Along with writing my dissertation, finishing Moda design project and doing 6 bra research, I have begun gathering early research for the biggest project of all:
The Final Major Project.
I have had my theme idea in my head since 1st year so it will be exciting to see how it works…As soon as it gets underway I shall post some pictures.
So let it begin! Its time to conquer killer contour fashion!!! :P
Yesterday in class we had to present our Moda project final garment in a 2 minute presentation.
My collection: Indestructible Femininity was influenced by James Bond, Bond girls and the Aston Martin car. I chose this as a theme as 2014, which the collection is for, sees the release of the next JB film and the 100 year anniversary of the Aston Martin car name.
The last project I did was very girly and soft so this is a big difference to that. I loved experimenting with the tailored details.
My satin covered rigilene skirt, which was inspired by car alloys, includes a painstaking made chain (which took hours to sew together) that I then further hand embellished with sew on crystals. All the pain and swollen fingers worth it in the end :)
I don’t just design pretty underwear.
Nope. I also design prints.
This CAD based project, which is due in on Friday, consists of designing a set of swimwear and co-ordinating prints.
My designs are based on the trend with a heart breaker theme and are directed to a younger -lets go wild consumer.
-I’m such a girly girl at heart
…..Though saying that for my other project, I am designing sleepwear which is based on Bond, mechanics and super cars :P so quite a contrast.
Summer is almost over..
3rd and final year is nearly upon us hard working contour girlies.
Where has the time gone?…. in less than one year we will be not only graduating but also showcasing our final collections on the catwalk. So no pressure.
Since year 1 we have been fundraising to help raise money towards the catwalk- For the past few days I have been making some girly bits and bobs such as frilly eyemasks, drawstring lingerie bags and garters, as much as I want to keep them all :P I hopefully will instead sell them to friends and family to help raise a few pennies to put into our savings pot :))
